Film Overview
From snowcapped peaks to ferns and forest woodland, the sound of a baying hound is nothing short of music to those loyally following on the trail. Houndsmen and houndswomen live for that sound and the dogs who let loose the bark, engaging in the age-old tradition that is hound hunting. This film tells the story of what it means to be a houndsman or houndswoman and tracks the adventures of Ryan and Jessianne Castle, Josiah Funk, Ross Feenstra and their dedicated hounds. Whether pursuing mountain lions, bobcats, raccoons, or bears, hound hunting is unique as one of the only forms of non-consumptive hunting, not unlike catch-and-release fishing. For those crazy enough to try it, hound hunting quickly becomes a lifestyle that is rooted in the conservation of a species.
