The good news just keeps on rolling here at the Hunting Film Tour as we prepare to launch our second season! It is with great pleasure I have the opportunity to announce that the Boone & Crockett Club has officially joined us in our crusade to bring the finest in high end hunting adventure and conservation media to big screens across the continent. There is no question that for many of us, the opportunity to harvest and record an entry into the B&C Record Book is a life long dream.
How can I possibly paraphrase the immeasurable impact this organization has had in shaping the conservation model and mechanisms that protect, manage and enhance the resources we cherish so dearly as hunters, and more importantly as conservationists? Whose history spans 127 years, and sum it up in a nice, neat little package in an attempt to convey the depth of this organizations efforts?
I admit it, I couldn’t compete with Wikipedia and as a result offer you the following:
“The Boone and Crockett Club is a hunter-conservationist organization founded in the United States in 1887 by Theodore Roosevelt. The club was named in honor of hunter-heroes of the day, Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett, whom the club’s founders viewed as pioneering men who hunted extensively while opening the frontier, but realized the consequences of overharvesting game. In addition to authoring a famous “fair chase” statement of hunter ethics, the club worked for the expansion and protection of Yellowstone National Park and the establishment of American Conservation in general. The Club and its members were also responsible for the elimination of commercial market hunting, creation of the National Park and National Forest Services, National Wildlife Refuge system, wildlife reserves, and funding mechanisms for conservation, all under the umbrella of what is known today as the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.”
Wow… A truly amazing legacy, and one I am incredibly proud to be participating in through the means and mechanism of the Hunting Film Tour! I invite you to join the B&C Club; become a member, volunteer, attend a B&C or HFT event and fuel the fire that is so integral to modern wildlife and resource management!
