Wild Sheep Foundation Joins HFT!

It’s been many months in the making, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce that the Wild Sheep Foundation has officially partnered with the HFT to bring North America the best hunting film tour in the industry!  Growing up in the shadows of the Rockies in Alberta, Canada and having the good fortune to have the opportunity to bowhunt bighorns this organization is near and dear to my heart.  I have witnessed first hand the tremendous conservation initiatives and relentless effort put forth by the thousands of members and volunteers. …

Mountain Magic

It’s that time of year. The thermometer bounces between -30 and -10 for the umpteenth month in a row, seasonal affective disorder and a lack of vitamin D threaten our sanity as the winter solstice drags on. Living north of the 49th parallel leaves us limited options, you either embrace old man winter and enjoy it or hunker down and be miserable. I for one choose the former, and there are a few options to ward off the winter blues. Chasing cats with hounds and archery gear, calling coyotes, shredding big alpine lines on fat skis or carving up the fresh on a new Summit 800 e-tec.…

HFT – Bronzed

The initial discussion translated into this conceptual drawing. One of the most enjoyable & exciting elements for me personally throughout the management of the Hunting Film Tour is the travel and all of the interesting people you meet along the way. An artist I recently discovered named Tanner Billis out of Montana is one such individual. Tanner and his father are the owners of a studio called Billis Fine Art (www.billisfineart.net) that specialize in Bronze artworks. I have had an idea brewing in the back of my mind to design and make a custom belt buckle each year for the Hunting Film Tour.…

A Booner for Ben

Jessie Maximuke and Author Ben Funk, life long friends and Big Muley Addicts Two weeks before I purchased my very first stick and string I was determined to get serious and find the big one. I spent money like a career high roller gambling addict on fuel, a real shark I was at the Esso. I bounced my way around the hills and back trails like a gypsy on a camel making the pilgrimage to Egypt. I was going to locate a booner and go out on opening day and wrap my tag around his antlers.…

Umingmak & Tea

When the imagination conjures up images of the Arctic, the legendary Inukshuk instantly comes to mind! It had haunted my thoughts for years, such a far away land filled with mystery and steeped in tradition. Victoria Island, NWT and the prehistoric creatures, known to the local Inuit as Umingmak (Muskox), provide an amazing bowhunting adventure. As my hunting career has evolved my thirst for adventure seems impossible to quench. I regularly find myself daydreaming about far away reaches that would provide adrenaline charged adventure.…

Meet the HFT Crew

There are a lot of career choices in this world, but few as much fun as earning a slot on the Hunting Film Tour management team! It is with great pleasure I have the opportunity to introduce the HFT team… From front L to R – Lane Johnson, Chase Perry, Casey Vandenbroek, Ryan Thompson and Chris Keig Film Tour Guru – Chris Keig Chris hails from Boulder Colorado, an East Coast transplant that landed in the Rockies to pursue his dreams of being a ski bum.…

HFT Boise – The Egyptian

The crowd checking out Backcountry Hunters & Anglers After a visit to Ketchum, ID with Ryan Callaghan who is one of the most respected Elk hunters in the Northwest, we loaded up our rig and hit the highway headed for Boise, ID. We had one night in Boise to scour the town and run a little Hunting Film Tour street team, inviting locals that haven’t heard about our show. The Boise landmark – Egyptian Theater Marqee Show time at the Egyptian Theater kicked off on time promptly at 7:00.…

HFT Missoula – The Wilma

After Bozeman we made our way to Missoula. With a day to spare we enjoyed an unbelievable time spent fishing the Blackfoot river with the HFT Crew. The following day was the much anticipated show at the historic Wilma Theater on the river in downtown Missoula. The Wilma show inspired lots of hooting and hollering from a terrific crowd. Big shout out to Pheasants Forever and Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, both who raffled off .22 rimfire rifles at our show! Also thanking our sponsors Sitka Gear, Vortex, Kenetrek, YETI Coolers and Costa for the generous amount of swag and prizes given away as well.…
